In 2003 I took on the role of treasurer on the Board of Management of our local school. Our four children attended there and like most parents, I wanted to give something back.

At that time, our accounts were managed manually. Between day to day transactions and the task of organising our accounts for the yearly audit, valuable time and resources were stretched. Coming from an I.T background, I knew there had to be an easier way.

The next two years I spent developing a system designed exclusively to meet the needs of Irish primary schools.Using Excel as a base structure and incorporating it into a web based database, I designed schoolfinance.ie to provide all primary schools with a simple and effective system to manage their finances.

 We are thrilled with the results and schoolfinance.ie has surpassed all our expectations.
